Planted and Rooted

It’s so easy to get pulled in a million directions—temptations, distractions, our own emotions, and especially the whispers of the enemy. But that only happens if we’re not deeply rooted in God’s truth. Every single day, we have choices to make: Whose voice will we listen to?

  • God’s—who speaks life, peace, and truth?

  • Our own—which can be all over the place?

  • The enemy’s—who thrives on lies and confusion?

The Bible makes it clear that we have to renew our minds daily:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” —Romans 12:2

Growth Requires Change

One of the biggest lies we fall for is thinking we don’t need to change. We’ve all heard things like, “This is just who I am, take it or leave it,” or “Why should I have to change for anyone?” But in God’s kingdom, we should be constantly growing. That’s the whole point—transformation. God loves us just as we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way.

Psalm 1 paints a picture of what it looks like to be truly rooted in Him:

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” —Psalm 1:2-3

A Tree by the Water

A tree planted by a river isn’t out here struggling for water—it’s connected to its source. It doesn’t dry up in a drought or get tossed around by the wind. It stands firm and produces fruit. That’s exactly what happens when we’re planted in God’s truth. When we let His Word shape us, we’re unshakable—no matter what comes our way.

True Transformation Comes from Him

And here’s the best part: We don’t have to force ourselves to change. True transformation happens through Him. His presence, His Word, and His love shape us from the inside out.

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” —2 Corinthians 3:18

A Question for You

So, are you planted, my friend? Are you rooted in His truth, or do you find yourself getting tossed around by life? If you want to be strong, steady, and full of life, you have to choose every day to be washed by His Word, renewed in His truth, and transformed by His Spirit.

Let’s be a people who don’t just hear the Word but actually let it change us. Let’s stay planted, stay rooted, and keep growing—because in Him, we will never wither.

Something to Think About This Month:

  • Whose voice has been the loudest in your life lately?

  • Are you allowing God’s Word to renew your mind daily?

  • Where is God calling you to deeper transformation?

Pray With Me ❤️

Lord, plant me in Your truth. Help me to stay rooted in You so I won’t be swayed by lies or distractions. Transform me from the inside out. Renew my mind, shape my heart, and help me to stand firm in Your Word. May my life bear fruit that glorifies You. Help me to stay and abide in You, keeping You as my first love always.

In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
